Hello to all,

a friend had inherited from his grandfather a huge american lathe named SIMMONS MICRO-SPEED,
centre height about 20", length between centres estimated 5 or 6 feet, maybe more.

As soon as I can, I will post some photographs and more exact specifications.

Is here anybody, who has informations about SIMMONS lathes and knows, where the factory is/was resident?

Thank you
Max

Once upon a time, I saw a largish lathe at a machinery dealer in Berkley Ca. It was a Simmons/Nebel, and was something that looked like a gear head lathe, bur with holes in the casing and driven by a Reeves pulley setup, most of the normal gearing was not present, perhaps just one geared speed change. The Nebel lathes that I have Seen are a pretty crude POS.

They are still around, based in Albany,NY.
Looks like they specialize in big stuff.
