shaping vises made in taiwan (or china..)!

Good thread!!!! I'm in the market for a vise too, so I am definitely interested in what you find price and freight wise. So far the deal kilers have all been the freight delivery prices. Most of the nicer quality ones have a 50 to 70 dollar freight charge added to the price of the vise. Being Irish cheap makes it hard for me to get off my wallet and make a decision for fear of spending too much money and getting less vise then I want. So keep us posted on what you find and where you find it, Please.

I have a Vertex rotary table. The quality & accuracy is excellent.

If I'm reading that right, those are enormous vises!
300mm jaw width is about 14 inches "jawdrop:

Yes, that seems huge, but 300 mm is 11.81 inches, not 14" :)

I will probably pull the trigger on a vmc-4 some time in march (figure 3 months to get set up)... no word on the shaper vises yet. I have 1 14" shaper vise left, it is well over 250 lbs, it needs a 24" shaper to go with it. sadly no room.
