Seeking direction for a newbie to milling

Hi all,

I recently acquired a central machinery version of the RF-31 mill. My metalworking skillset is more towards the black arts of forging, casting, and welding. Quite frankly I scarcely know where to begin with this machine. I am looking for any and all advise for resources to learn. Books, Videos, classes, people, etc. I live in the Baltimore area, so if anyone knows of any good hands on learning facilities in the area I would love to hear about it.

There are some videos on youtube that you can watch to get some basic ideas. Just do a google search for youtube milling.

Look for a copy of Machining Fundamentals by John R. Walker http://www.ebay.com/itm/Machining-F...432?pt=US_Nonfiction_Book&hash=item2ec4aa0550

Local library may have other books on machine shop pratices.

+1 on u-tube videos. Search for Tubal Caine, AKA Mr Pete22. Excelent videos on all aspects of machining.
