Hello all,

My job got rained out today, so after having lunch with my girlfriend, I decided to go to a local second hand shop to see what I could find. I don't think that I got a real sweet deal, but not bad on a few items...

The "Gray Tools" lead hammers were $4.00 a piece, but I'm not sure what would be installed in the recievers. Likely a material of your choice... brass, plastic, etc. ? I can make something to fit....

The Jacobs Chuck repair kits were $2.00 a piece... The SKF and Dormer cutters were $20.00 a piece... brand new old stock and will fit my "new to me" horizontal mill nicely...

I also bought this electrical panel for $20.00 thinking that I might have a good beginning of a rotary phase panel. The case, starter buttons, etc. are worth more than that, I would think...

You're almost there on a phase converter. I can see the start/stop are already wired to run those relays. Check but those relays should run a 2hp for sure, likely a 5hp. It probably would be be better to put in a regular motor contactor, but it would work.

Nice shopping trip.

Thank you for your input, Karl. I don't know much about RPC's but I think that I am about to learn much more....

Brian :)

I can tell you're a scrounger. Decide what size three phase motor you need and start looking.

I've built several RPCs, be glad to help. And I'm not the only one here.

You did great! I've found that specialty tools go for dirt cheap, when you find them in 2nd hand shops .

Happy trails.

The hammers are a great score for sure! Making heads for those would be a decent leisurely day fun project.

That panel is on heck of a deal for $20.00. The enclosure alone is worth much more than that.
