Trying to save a good 20-yr. old 1/2" drill. Replacement switch discontinued. Attempting to use a 760404003 switch
for a current model drill. Appears to wire up the same, but no 110-volt continuity through the switch.

Bound to be a set of contacts on that switch that make when you trigger it, unless it goes to a variable speed model, then it's a little different. I would guess you have that aspect matched up though, correct? If you find a set of contact that do close, you could wire the neutral side straight through and switch only the hot leg.

We have a tool repair guy on board with us, and I'm sure he will jump in soon.

When you say "Replacement switch discontinued", do you mean Sears stopped carrying it, or...? Have you checked with the mfgr.? I've seen a listing that correlates the Sears Model No. prefix to their suppliers. May be worth a shot...
