No, that’s a boat anchor. Look at the pic with the major crash damage where it broke out the ways below the chuck.
 
Scrap- especially with that monstrous overhead motor drive and no backgears, plus the way damage
Why pay the guy to haul away his junk?

I agree... that one is closer to being 'lawn art'... any idea how old it may be?

I'd like to have a L&S... but not that one.

I just thought it was interesting...

I couldn’t stand to look at that once piece of wonderful machine tool excellence abused then set on a lawn. It would be like a kick every time I looked at it :(

I've seen a few lathes that have been 'clearanced' in front of the chuck. It's ugly, but probably doesn't cause any issues with function...

I'd never do that to my machine... but machines like that are 'just old machines' at a lot of shops... they don't worry too much about modifications like that.
