Running my Colchester lathe with a phase converter

I’m sorry if you guys are getting sick of my questions already. I’m not a machinist or electrician.

So I just got my Clausing Colchester 13” 3-phase lathe running on my single phase house power. It was running in reverse at first and I swapped lines A & C as the Phase-O-Magic instructions stated.

My question is does it sound normal? I kind of remember it sounding less noisy in the beginning when I test ran it on 3 phase. And should the red light stay on during operation? Mine only comes in at first then shuts off. Otherwise it seems to be running great. Just noisy for the first second.

Per the instruction manual. Sounds quiet to me, your are only running the motor the gear train is not engaged.

My daughters critter arrived today . His job is to keep the 3 Shelties in line . His eyes are bright blue , not red as the pic shows .

He’s 50% Australian Cattle Dog, 25% golden retriever and 25% Labrador. I got him from a Michigan humane society and he’s originally from Louisiana. His name is Loki. Extremely smart, literally goes everywhere with me and is the closest thing to a child I have

Thanks for the replies guys! I’ve been running it and cutting some scrap all night. I think my lathe is working just fine. Now to finish cleaning it up.
