I recently purchased an older roll-in band saw, an EF1459. Has anyone put together a history of these saws beyond what the manufacture provides? I'm curious how to determine the manufacture date of my saw.

Are there any forums for these saws? Any places or people to go for used parts?

Thanks,
Mitch

I love roll-in saw. does the work of both a vertical and a horizontal. If you find apart source, let me know. Mine is due for TLC

I found a little bit more info on these saws. From Vintage Machinery: (http://vintagemachinery.org/photoindex/detail.aspx?id=15488)

"If the band saw uses a 9 foot blade, it was manufactured between 1959 and 1985, and is a Model SF 8590. If it uses a 10 foot blade it was manufactured after 1985 and is a model EF 1459."

So my saw is an SF 8590, going by the blade length.

Currently there is an Operators Handbook for sale on Amazon for an R 170 saw that looks similar to mine.

So far I'm unable to find any info on an R 170 saw to how it fits into the scheme of roll in band saws.

These fine saws are still made. Parts should be available from company. I miss mine.... donated it to a High School machine shop class.
