I have just purchased a fully tooled delta rockwell old style surface grinder with the toolmaker attachment (swiveling table) and various attachments. The machine has not been used in 25 yrs or so and the canvas covers on the Y feed screw have pretty well disintegrated (part 131 in the picture). I imagine there are no parts available as it is something ike 1940s vintage.
I am thinking of perhaps a 3d printed telescopic cover arrangement. Is there anything commercial that could be adapted that anyone is aware of? Some sort of bellows. The screw is probably 3/4" or 7/8 dia and there is a collapsible cover that goes on either side of the nut. They are both probably 6" long when not collapsed. Any clever ideas out there? The screw is under the base of the machine but there are still several paths for grinding dust to get in.
