RIP Phil Lesh

RIP. Sad. The band made some good music, had quite the following. Only attended one of their concerts, in 1984 - what a experience. Very different than any other concert I attended either before or after.

Being a SF bay area kid I saw them several times and the Jefferson Airplane also. Some great shows at Winterland early 70s
I think I actually liked JA better, and Hot Tuna.

Went to many shows.

Also Bay Area so Dead were a local band for me. Only show I was going to travel for was Ventura when Jerry went into a diabetic coma and they had to cancel.

Being a bass player this hits me a little harder.

Good that he passed peacefully with family around.

RIP

Saw the Dead play numerous times, Winterland was our favorite venue. Some shows were like rehearsals, others were high energy marathons, two hours on your feet, ten minute break and a couple more hours. All-night New Year's Eve with the Dead, Airplane, New Riders and others lost in the haze. Some of the stuff that happened back then is hard to believe now. Lucky to have survived. Fortunately the statute of limitations has long since expired.

I got to see them as a young adult.
They have a sound that is unmistakable as well as legions of fans. The show was impressive.
RIP
