ZAY7045fg/1 Attempted my first bit of milling on this machine and encountered major chatter. Realized I could rock the spindle referencing the head back and forth a bit when holding the top and bottom of spindle.

time to tighten and likely replace the spindle bearings.

I don’t have a manual, but am following a similar blog on a Grizzly (except I have power down feed).

im at the step where the quill should drop out, but I’m getting hung up somewhere fairly solid. Any tips where to look?

NM guys. Found it. A set screw on the spring side of the quill. Rides along the quill to keep it straight?

Ok next question!

I called my bearing supplier and they don’t carry the P6 designation bearings which is stamped on the current Chinese bearings.
They are pretty standard 30206 and 30207 wheel type bearings.

What tolerance is required for these machines? Glad I pulled it apart as they are very “Grindy”.

Have you tried adjusting the pre load or were the bearings shoot when you got them out ?

Have a look at this thread for some great info on the bearing class.

Don't know your bearing supplier but I bought my spindle bearings from Bearings Canada.

I think so? I'd have to go look.
