I just recently managed to get this grinder operational. When I purchased this the shop, where it was located, was being torn down. This was the last piece of equipment remaining. It had been driven by a belt system from overhead.
When received nothing turned, it was frozen in all directions. A LOT of teardown and cleaning was in order. I primered everything and at some point will put a finish coat of paint on it. I tried to keep everything original. I removed the belt pulley from the grinder shaft and added a coupler on the end to drive with a 3 phase motor. Built a motor mount out of aluminum angle and mounted to existing bolts so I didn't have to make any additional holes, etc.
Some questions on oiling the grinding shaft. What should be used for lubricant, oil or grease? I suspect oil but what kind.
