Can someone tell me the trick to recoiling a bandsaw blade. I ordered a couple of bands and need to get one back into the package , wrong size. It's only 64 inchs long. Thanks

You can just it at both ends and twist it and it will go back. With your hands or with one foot and one hand. Be sure to wear your gloves.

Gary,

First make sure you have a box of Band-Aids handy. ;)

Then holding the blade with your right hand palm up, step on the blade with your right foot and rotate your hand counter-clockwise as you bend over. The blade will coil three times and stay put. When you get real good, you can hold the blade in both hands palms up at shoulder width and rotate your hands inward to accomplish the same thing.

This reminds me of an incident that took place back in college. We got word that a particularly nervous instructor was going to give us a safety demo on the bandsaw. Always looking for new forms of entertainment, we went into the lab before the lecture, un-coiled all of the blades in the storage locker and stuffed them back in, closing the door tight. We all gathered around the instructor for the demo and when he opened the locker door, about 20 blades came flying out and spread themselves across the floor. The guy never even flinched, found the blade he was looking for on the floor continued on with the demo and never said a word about it. It was all we could do to keep a straight face.

using a longish V-belt to practice on might be easier on your hands as well.

Thanks---I got it back in the padded envelope-----not really the right way but close enough.
