I'm getting ready to make a bushing for a gear in my gearbox . Looking at boring and reaming. As of now I do not have a reamer large enough to get the job done so I might just drill and bore the Oil lite bronze material. This being said I have been looking at buying another set or maybe just an individual reamer, but I have seen adds saying H7 and H8. this seems to be some kind of accuracy measurement. What exactly does H7 or H8 mean?

I believe H7 is a slip fit for a H6 shaft . H8 may be size to size . ( It's been awhile ) What size ? Edit . H8 have a larger + tolerance as per the chart .

Thanks . I went ahead and made the bushing today. I bored it to size because it was not a standard size. Nailed the I/d but the press was under by about a thou so I used some green stuff. I honestly don't know how I missed the o/d I think my gesometer needs calibrating again. Usually what happens when I am really tired. I looked at the chart but I do not understand it. It looks to be revealing some kind of range. Like 0 -10 . Not sure how to read it.

Be careful! I went to the chart that xr650rRider posted and downloaded it. Good information. I collect this stuff and have my own Quick Reference Books. Then I went to the Go Metric link on the chart. My computer was seized and I got a notice saying that it was being held for ransom. Really a cartoon looking message. This is the second or third time this year I have run across something like this. I turned off the computer and rebooted. Everything is fine other then I have to surf to find a video about engineering disasters that I was half way through. I'm not going back, so I don't know if the author has other god stuff there. Charles.

Thanks Chewy. I will avoid the metric part. I have had the ransom ware on more than one hard drive. The only solution is to replace the hard drive. Thats the bad thing about the internet. One of the worst ransom ware sites is I-Yogi. I sometimes think these viruses are created by the Virus companies themselves like Norton and Mcafee. I got the I-Yogi from trying to download a version of AGV virus software. Man was I ever ****** off. And just to think it is all just 1's and 0's..

What browser are you using? Firefox normally warns of stuff like this. (I didn't try the link, fits are well covered in Machinery's handbook.)

I have seen instanced in the past (several times) where a message that appears to be a ransomware message pops up but is in fact just a phishing attempt hoping you will respond so they can separate you from some of your money in a more traditional scam. All that is on your computer is the popup. Usually a reboot does it. Once I had to get more aggressive to get rid of the pop up but never was there any actual encryption of my hard drive. I, of course, have no idea if this is similar to what you experienced, just sharing a possibility.
