Radio delete plate

I am making a plate to cover up the radio opening in my 69 stang. Starting with a 1/4" alum plate, mill the perimeter to size then put a 1/8" radius on the outside, then send it out for black anodizing. When it's back I will then etch the text and running horse with a 1/16" ball end mill. Then very carefully paint the etched areas in with red to match my black & red interior. Think it looks ok? Here is a screen shot.

Maybe engrave before you anodize?

If you can run one off, you should be able to see what it looks like in the car before you pay for anodizing, and then make any changes you might want. The stock should be cheap, so not much loss there if you make a mistake.

I run a pro cam system with a nice verification side on it so no mistakes from my end hopefully. Gonna have my boss in Chicago throw it on an Okuma to mill it then ship it to me. The radio bezel I'll be bolting it to comes today so I'll make the final size adjustment then it'll be on the boss to get it done for me. Wish I had a cnc in the garage LOL

I believe you can have it anodized black and then cover it with masking tape, do your engraving and then have it anodized in the red to color the engraving.

Im still up in the air about it. I may just have it machined and paint the black and red. I can always have it anodized if the paint does not work out.

I think it is going to look incredible. Looks like you did a great job on the horse. Little things like this make a great car.

Thanks church. I did not have text to match the style I wanted so I had to draw the Mach 1. The jorse was the hard part. I found a solid model of it online then had to create 2d lines from that. I'll post up some pics when I'm done.
