I recently purchased an 8 x 29 mini-lathe. The below gear change chart for threading was included with the lathe. For what does the character "H" stand in the various sections of the chart?

I'd take a guess that it means no gear in that position. What pitch is your leadscrew?

I believe we’ve had this come up before, the “H” denotes a spacer in place of a gear.

Correct. It holds a single gear in contact with it's adjoining gear which has an other gear on it's shaft.

(Fashetious)

Maybe the Chinese word for "spacer" starts with an "H" in english. . .

Intentionally salty and obnoxious. . .

H = Hey, put the spacer here!

You're welcome.

I have the same chart and agree with the other responses, spacers. My question is- there doesn't seem to be an option for 16TPI, an i missing something? Is it possible to cut 16tpi with this machine other than using taps and dies?
