One of yesterdays jobs.
Easy to hold yet difficult not to scratch when doing so. 4 1/2" diameter clear PMMA tubes 16" long faced to length at 15.938 +-.005"
The only lathe that we have with a 4 1/2" + spindle bore is a WW2 era W&S turret lathe which is not ideal for delicate work of this nature (-: Also it is Customer supplied material, 20 parts total and they supplied 1 extra which was nice of them.
Made a CPVC split collar and had at it, this was not a fun job considering all of the careful handling. This method of part holding works reasonably well for such things, they will now go in a mill for slots and holes, haven't quite figured out how to hold them in a spacer yet, any ideas are welcome.
