I was flipping Through craigslist the other day & saw an add for a PRO 360 digital protractor. I got to wondering if this tool could be used for setting up work on the mill table, possibly taken the place of degree triangle plates & other set up type tools & fixtures. Has anybody used one?

They used the level at work where the accuracy was acceptable. According to the manual the accuracy is +/- .2 degree. If that works for you then why not.

I think it kinda depends how much money you've got and what you wanna buy with it. Do you do a lot of angle work that calls for better than a metal "general" protractor. I would guess it isn't inexpensive.
Pretty much an individual choice.

Thanks Benny for posting the attached file on the pro 360 protractor. Posting pictures & files is something that I haven't learned how to do yet. Like Mr. Dickr mentioned, I don't do a lot of angle work, but what little bit I've done I've used a general protractor or some angle plates. It just seems that I've got my hands full trying to hold the general protractor, the work piece &trying to tighten the mill vise all at the same time & hold the work at the correct angle. I noticed that the digital protractor had a magnetic base which would free up one hand. With one hand freed up it seems I could have more control to tap the work in to the angle more accurately. Just curious as to how others set up angled work in a mill vise or mill table. Phil
