Hi,
I have been reading and viewing info about the Precision Matthews 1022 and 1030 lathes.
I have been wondering about rotating the compound slide. It seems as if there are circumstances when the slide will obscure access to the fasteners which are used to hold the compound slide in position.
On some lathes I worked with in the past, I had easy access to the fasteners that are used when you wish to rotate the compound slide, and on others those fasteners were hidden underneath the slide.
I am writing to ask; is this a practical problem with the PM 1022/1030 or is it as simple as slipping a thin wrench under the slide to access the fasteners? How tight do you have to make the fasteners to secure the slide in position? Will a thin wrench do the job?
Thank you!
