I've been in a need for a vacuum pump for several months now to recharge the A/C system on my truck. A unlicensed deer run out in front of my daughter, back in November last year, and totaled out the front end of my truck and took out the condenser and dryer in the process. Luckily the radiator was spared.
Anyways, I took a chance and turned one of my portable air compressors into a vacuum pump. Pulled a good vacuum, pegged the gage needle to the stud at 25 inches and continued for about five minutes when I shut the system in to hold for leaks. Saved myself about $100 bucks for a cheap vacuum pump. The only thing I had to make was a adapter to go from 1/4 NPT to 1/2 Acme hose connection which took about an hour to whittle out. Ken
