Hi folks
Looking for a bit of help with my PM935TS , the quill won't retract fully. Seems to bind about 3/4" from seating in the full up position. I oiled it, removed old sticky grease from the topside and replaced with new, tightened the clock spring another 45 degrees more like the manual suggests. It still has more of a bind that I think is normal (it shouldn't bind at all) what am I overlooking folks ? Any help/advice would be appreciated.

I don't really know, I guess I need to consult the manual to see if I can figure it out, it's good for about 4.25" dwnward ,only drags on the last. 3/4" from all the way "up" position.

Make sure the set screw in the back of the quill is not too tight (the one that keeps the bottom cap from unscrewing) Just lightly snug it, not too much or it will oval the quill and make it stick at the top of the travel.
That was IT ! So simple its embarrassing, it was really tight, I backed it out and just snugged it back (as you said) I had to back off the tension of the spring to make it smooth & easy. THANKS QMT

You may want to put some Vibra-Tite (or clear nail polish) on the set screw to hold it in place so it doesn’t back out and cause a different problem.

good advice, I'll put something on it to keep it in place, thank you.
Quite welcome.

I use Vibra-Tite on set screws that I place flush in "extra" tapped holes on my machines to keep crap from clogging them (easier to clean out the hex than the deep hole) and also on my table lock levers to keep them from vibrating tight when not wanted.

I like Vibra-Tite, but, once I open a tube, and use it, it solidifies before the next use. How do you keep it from doing that?
