Well I went and bought a PM Research kit for my next(or next, next)project. looks like the crankshaft will be a bit difficult.Should I turn between centers? Has someone out there completed one of these? Any guidance would be appreciated.

knifer-one: I'd go to the Home Model Engine Machinist forum and post that question. Those guys do some incredible engine builds. The crank I did simular to yours I did in five pieces and pressed together with locktite it's held up perfectly. Roger

knifer-one: You can do it on the lathe. Use you're four jaw so that you can off-set it and turn the center shaft and clean up the inside flat faces. You're going to need a precise spacer in the center so you don't distort the work with pressure. You can hold the spacer in place with a hose clamp. But you have to have the spacer SECURE. Next center the work on the long shafts ( you have a little extra legnth to work with) in the four jaw with a center. Face off the outside flats and turn the shafts to size. If you don't have a mill the 4 sections that are still rough can be dressed with a file. Roger
