Ok last week my collet stop screw sheared of cause of a stripped drawbar called pm they sent me a new drawbar and said I didn't need the set screw but no matter what I try I can't tighten a collet once I get close to being tight it just spins if I try to hold the endmill it just spins try holding my fingers against the collet same deal removed the draw bar and popped the collet up in there to see if it would seat in place same thing just spins I'm wondering how I'm supposed to do this cause right now it's useless nothing I try will seat the collet

Only thing I can think of is trying to order a dog point set screw to fix it

Sounds like drawbar might be slightly too long, causing the collet not to be fully pulled into the spindle. On my PM932 I have noticed that on a couple of arbors. I intend to make a new drawbar but in the meantime I made a .25 inch washer that sit between the drawbar and top of the quill so that the drawbar now pulls the arbors fully into the quill and they don’t “spin”.
I wouldn’t worry about the set screw, you don’t need it. If that’s all that holding your collet it’s not safe anyway. The drawbar should pull the collet fully into the quill which is what holds the collet.

Well my buddy Bob came over hes a member on here and makes cnc molds way more of a machinist than me .we tried several things needless to say I think I got a quill with a bad grind we got a collet to hold with 2 of us and my older shortened draw bar and new drawbar. you can crank that thing as tight as possible back off one thread and the collet falls right out I've always had to back out a couple threads then hit the bar with a mallet we put a collet in there and whacked several times with a mallet which should seat the collet falls right out .so we blued a collet and tested it and it's only contacting the taper in one thin spot at the rim . we also chased the threads on the draw bar and ran a tap in the collet. out of the machine they screw together great put them in the machine and it fills like the drawbar is getting bound up on something I actually think the lil nub screw has been taking all the force since I got it and is why it finally sheared I used all these same collets in my old mill with no problems so I'll be contacting pm with the video etc I'm sure they'll make it right it kinda sucks but it's not the end of the world sometimes bad parts happen luckily I'm still recovering from surgery so I'm not in the middle of someone's project
