I have what appears to be a dangerous situation when I disengage the power crossfeed and disengage the half nut the cross slide seems to still want to catch and move towards the chuck. I loosed the half nut disengage excessively to test. It is also hard to move the cross slide by the crank, have locking screw super loose. The issue is worse the faster you have the power feed set and it's harder to move in the opposite direction.

What can I start checking as this is highly concerning and I would rather not pull entire cross slide off if I don't have to?

Loosen the gibs for the half nut.

That's different than the adjustment for how open the half nut is when disengaged? On the left side it looks like there is a section before the half nut that is completely enclosed, I thought it might be grabbing in there somewhere. I will look at it more in the morning to see if I can see any gibs adjustment.

Sounds like it may not even be a half-nut issue; it may be more like a problem with the cross-feed drive mech
Have you contacted PM yet?

For anyone coming back and searching, I figured out the issue and nothing I would have expected.

After taking the lead screw out etc it was much simpler. The threading dial was just short of seized up. Once I took it off it was VERY difficult to get to turn at all. That was causing it to drag the saddle along the lead screw. Took it apart cleaning the shaft up and hit it with some scotch brite and re assembled and it was much easier to turn and fixed my issue of the saddle moving with everything disengaged.

Thanks for the update! I'm glad you got it taken care of.
