I'm reviewing several PM lathes for the future. I currently have a heavy duty bench to mount a lathe.
I have reviewed lathe dimensions on PM's site for the 1030 & the 1130. One dimension I could not find
is the total depth of the PM-1130, measured from the front edge of the chip tray to the back of the
lathe/ chip guard.

21 7/8 from front of chip tray to furthest protrusion on the back (which is some fan shrouds for the VFD enclosure)

Ran out and measured, approximately 21 1/2 - 21 7/8 inches from the ribs on the back chip guard to the front edge of the chip tray and fan covers. The carriage hand wheel is farther yet. And if it matters at all I have enjoyed my 1130V a lot, after a bit of adjustment and adding ELS for easier thread selection. Also, I liked the fact it has tapered gibs for the cross slide and compound. I know a lot of guys prefer the 1228 over the 1130 just because of less gear changing for threading. Hope this helps you!
