Pillar Tool Parts?

There was a recent thread on Hemingway kits that led me to to the Martin Model web site. Years ago I purchased two casting kits from a fellow up in New Jersey, and apparently the second kit is the Martin Model Universal Pillar Tool. That particular box of parts had no plans.

In the same box there was a duplicate part, and some others I could not identify.

PT2 appears to be a second table casting. There also appears to be an upper lever for the pillar tool (top right in second pic, with circular cast section).

Does anyone have knowledge of the other components? Accessories for the pillar tool? Maybe a different kit?

Any info is appreciated.

The 'plans' are the Geo. H. Thomas book "Workshop Techniques", which is largely about building the Pillar Tool as well as a dividing head. The 'extra' parts are a mystery to me, but you could call Gary at Martin Model and I'm sure he'd be happy to identify them. They don't seem to fit anything in the book, but it's possible that they are for additional accessories not designed by Geo. Thomas.

Gene,

The three leftmost parts on the second image appeared pretty specific, so I hoped someone would recognize the pieces.

Good idea to simply check with Martin Model. They would likely recognize any of their own kit parts.

Thanks,

They do indeed. What's more, two of them are cored while the pillar tool castings (Martin & Hemingway) are not, which make me think they're from a different design(er).

It turns out all those extra parts in the second image are the castings for a pantograph set, sold by Martin Model. I can get the plans for $20.

BtW, Mr. Gary Martin of Martin Model and Pattern responded to my e-mail very promptly.

I made the road trip up to New Jersey to pick up a Cross Slide casting made by Metal Lathe Accessories. I had no idea I actually purchased three complete kits, with a spare table casting for the pillar tool.
