My reason for the phosphor bronze is for the bearings on the Kozo's Pennsy A3 switcher. It is also used for the boiler stay bolts and bushings. I only live 1/2 hr from US border so I have a shipping address there. I put together a fair amount of what I think I will need and then drive down and pick up my stuff when it all arrives. It save me quite a bit on shipping and brokerage fees. UPS basically doubles the cost of everything if they ship to Canada.
I thought about oilite but not sure how well it would stand up in this application.
Speedy metals doesn't seem to carry it. I had forgotten about Online Metals, Bob, so thanks. They do carry it. Couldn't find it at McMaster- Carr but maybe I was looking in the wrong place. Will try them again. E bay is hit and miss but worth keeping an eye on if time is not of the essence (which it always seems to be for me).
I used to go to a scrap yard in Calgary when I lived there that had nicely racked up the useable stuff for a buyer's perusal. They just sold it by the pound. This seems to be less common now. There was one in Winnipeg that would let you prowl around but it is under new ownership and they put a stop to it.
I missed some nice round bar up to 3" x 2- 5' or so when our local newspaper replaced some printing presses. Just waited too long and one day it was all hauled away.
These 1 1/2" scale locos use larger chunks of metal than I first realized. Thanks for your input.
