Paulson Welder

I have a Paulson Welder. I purchased it from a retired jeweler and watch repairman about 35 years ago. He probably purchased it right after world war II. I have had it sitting on a shelf all this time. It is really an electric soldering machine used for soldering silver and gold jewelry. It is an interesting machine and I am thinking of resurrecting it for small resistance silver soldering purposes. I am familiar with resistance soldering, owning a small resistance unit and having built a couple of units using the carbon rod from a D cell battery. The Paulson uses a larger carbon rod. I have spoken with several welders about obtaining carbon rods. They know nothing about the system. I have not contacted a welding supply company as of yet but wondered if anyone on this forum is familiar with resistance soldering and where rods may be obtained.

Another source for carbon rods are the air/arc rods available at most welding supply stores, that are used for arc gouging. I've got several boxes "somewheres"!
