Painless metric Conversion

you can use 25.4

1mm/25.4=.03937

2inchesx25.4=50.8mm

Soon after I got my first digital caliper I pretty much abandoned metric/imperial charts and calculators in the shop - it's so easy to simply set the measurement and push the button on the tool I aleady have in my hand. Now that I'm using a digital mic, my "conversion" is nearly complete. . .

When I need it, I use an offline converter I have had for a long time. A quick search didn't turn up a current site hosting it, so I will upload it here. It covers many engineering units in addition to simple Metric conversion.

That's a good basic converter.

For simple length conversions I normally just use my calculator. For something more unusual I refer to this online converter. It'll convert just about anything to just about anything else.

Mac users have it easy with conversions - the system has built-in conversion for all kinds of measurements, including currency. With a single click, the converter pops up along with other "Dashboard" widgets - dictionary, weather, calculator, translator, etc.

I kind of shy away from online utilities. I'm not always connected, and a converter that lives with me is handier.
