I have a chance to buy a Protrak TRL1440S lathe with Trak 1440SL controller. The machine is a 2003 model with the Windows 95 processor.
The price is under $4,000, and I've wanted a CNC lathe to do things I can't with a manual lathe.
Does SWI still support this lathe? Can the software and/or software be upgraded inexpensively?
What is your overall opinion of the machine?
I have had a manual lathe for many years, and helped manage a machine shop for the Army. I've taken NC and CNC programming in college in the 80s and did CAD drafting in the late 90s, so I've had some exposure to CNC.
Thanks,
