I spoke with the seller. The asking price is what his research found. Opinions on price and lathe overall? This lathe is within 20 miles of my house.

Tia.

Thank you. I passed up a fully loaded lathe a few months ago, beautiful machine with tons of tools. Dang it. I'll keep looking.

Half that asking price and now you are talking.

Keep in mind that prices vary by region, so having an idea about local prices is helpful.
It looks like a 10" lathe, since I believe all the 11" machines had a QC gearbox. If it really
has no change gears it's worth much less because replacing all of them on eBay is costly
and probably would take too much time. The other question of course is if the seller is
flexible. If it comes with the change gears and he's willing to come down on price, it might
be worth a look. 'Course I would say that, since I own one...

My first lathe was a logan monkey wards like that one and it came with 3 and 4 jaw chucks steady rest
lantern tool post set also assorted MT 1 drills and the qcgb gave $ 900 for it
sold it for $ 1100 after clean up paint and qctp and 4 years of use........ good deals are out there, patience is the key

For the sake of completeness most would prefer to have the full change gear set, but it's not absolutely necessary. You could buy or make just enough gears to do a few of the most common threads.
If the lathe was otherwise a real peach, I wouldn't let the lack of gears dissuade me. Easier to replace missing gears than to replace say, a steady rest (which that one has)
My two cents worth
