I think this is a 13" model 32 or 34 circa 1924 based on a serial # of 27798.
Anyone know which model it is and if it has power crossfeed and what is that
smaller star knob near the 1/2 nut lever for?

I had a look at it today, lots of issues but may be ok for a 2nd lathe for
milling and to handle what is beyond the capacity of my 9A:

Pros/Cons:

+ 6" chucks look decent, 3 jaw Cushman and a 4 jaw Bermans made is Sweden

+ Steady rest included

+ Not much Bed wear

- Back gear eccentric, lever and inner shaft are missing

- Some broken teeth in the apron, but seems to work ok

- No Change gears (I hope to be able to power feed it off the one existing gear but have no idea what the feed rate would be)

- No pulley/gear set on the spindle or countershaft, existing pulley was custom
made.
The 110 1725 rpm motor has a 3 way pulley and is attached to the backgear shaft.

- Bearing is slightly scored but the spindle is much worse, lots of score lines about 3-4 thou deep. However, I couldn't detect much runout just rocking
the chuck back and forth. Very primitive oil system, no wicks, maybe that's why?

I don't think it is worth much as is, maybe $300 which is 1/2 what he is asking.
Opinions?

Guesstimate the weight and give him .15 cents a pound, keeps it out of the scrap yard cause that's where it's headed in reality.

Got to take into account what else is available in the general area too for what $. The chucks are nice. Your choices of spindle speeds are somewhat limited! Could be pricey trying to replace that stripped gear in the apron, is that the only one?
What jobs do you have that wont fit the 9"? In its present state that 13" is very limited in what it can do.
But really it comes down to what you are prepared to shell out.

Cheers Phil
