This is not exactly a machining question, but: can I run a little canned chainsaw fuel through a 4-stroke generator to prepare it for storage?
I'm in Florida, and I don't know if it's the humidity or what, but even with no-ethanol gas, carbs get messed up here when stored. Running them dry doesn't really help.
I learned that old timers used to run pure oil through their carbs to keep chainsaws from gumming up in storage, so it seems to me that if I can do that, I ought to be able to run 50:1 canned fuel through a generator for a minute or so without messing up the plug or anything. The fuel should resist gumming because it's not garbage gas, and the oil ought to be good for the carb's insides.
