Mitutoyo digital calipers amaze me. They seem to use energy like they know you just put the last battery on earth in.
I have both dial and digital Mit' calipers and there's something about using the dial calipers that is deeply pleasing to me, but you'll take the digital calipers from me when you pry them from my cold dead hands.

IIRC, I put a fresh Energizer Silver Oxide (China) in about 4 years ago – I'd forgotten what a PITA it is to get the battery cover off.
I have a set in the garage that I would always find turned on even after I noticed this many times and became confused as I Know I turned them off.
I figured out the battery was getting weak and when the temp dropped it would run out of juice, but have enough when warm to work the electronics and it would get turned on upon receiving juice.
Been like this for a year now and that battery just wont die.
