Picked this up on Craigslist yesterday. $250 (included a benchtop mill that needs a little love, still trying to figure out who makes it) got a bunch of tooling with it. Did I do ok? Didn't have time to do any research, but here are the pics.
Actually after really looking at all the stuff, I think I did alright. Craigslist is a strange place, sometimes you just run across someone who wants to dump their stuff. This guy was a retired tool maker that was moving to Spain. Was just unloading everything. My babysitter had not showed up that day and I was trolling craigs at 10a .... he had put the ad up at 9:45. I was the first to respond, by the time I got to his house at 4p, he had about 50 responses. Guess it was a good deal ..... did I mention there was a bench top mill incuded? Still trying to figure out who made it, and it will take some love, but all in all a good deal.
Looks like you got 'way over $250 in tooling alone! Ya did good ... going to take you a while to get it all put together and making sense, but that is as much or more fun than makin' stuff! Good on ya Mate!
So after spending some time looking through all the stuff that came with this lathe .... there are some threaded rods (in the "metal" cigar box) in the third picture. Looking on line seems there was some option to use these rods to cut theads with this lathe. Can't find any pictures or documentation that describes how these might have been connected.
Anybody with any insight on how these should be hooked up?
Here are some more pic's after cleaning up the parts ..... that evapo-rust works really well. Probably will sell some of the duplicates if anybody is interested.
I love how you posted multiple pictures so you could REALLY rub it in! Seriously good buy, If you want to sell it for what you got in it ...........?
