newbie question: where to find 3" pieces of 3/8" mild steel keystock?

I'm getting organized to cut my first tools, thanks to Mikey and his wonderful tutorials. All the keystock I've seen is 12" lengths. Is it safe for me to assume that I'll be able to cut them down to 3" lengths with my Foredom Grinder and cutoff wheels? Is there an online source that's particularly recommended?

You can cut key stock with a hacksaw and dress the ends square with a file. Or get as fussy as you want to.
