I get one thing taken care of, and another jumps up and bites me, lol. The Newall DP700 came with the mill, so I have no idea how old or what it's gone through so far. Shortly after it was delivered, I attempted to tighten the mounting screw on the quill scale and cracked the carbon fiber, ruining the scale. I ordered the replacement and installed it. If I remember correctly, it did work immediately following the replacement when I was milling some aluminum.
Yesterday when I was testing out a new face mill, and lowered the quill, I noticed it started at zero for a few thousandths then switched to "-" on the values. At about .030 of travel, it switched back to 0.000 and started over. Final reading was about .030 of depth, but visually it was almost an inch.
Any idea where to start with troubleshooting? I did attempt a power cycle to see if it would clear any errors, and nothing. Is there a calibration step I've missed?? I did download the manual today and will read through it this evening but thought I would ask here. Thanks.
