All HH's videos are available in our video library . Here is his newest one
---------------------------------------------------------
The video this time is for a device which enables faceplate assemblies to be balanced to a higher degree than is possible if attempted whilst the faceplate is situated on the lathe's spindle.
Another feature of it is that it enables workpieces, with clamps etc. , to be fixed and accurately positioned whilst the faceplate is horizontal. This making it very much easier to populate a faceplate compared to carrying out the task whilst on the lathe's spindle, where three, or more, hands are often needed for the task. The design uses a simple method of producing the equivalent of ball races on which the spindle runs, avoiding the need to purchase large, and expensive, commercial ball races. Viewing the video just to see how these works may be of interest, even if the fixture itself has no place in your workshop.
A link to the video can be found on this page. http://www.homews.co.uk/page151.html
This will be the last video that I publish before the new year, so may I add my good wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
Also, I will offer something from another of my pastimes. Before I became deeply involved with metalworking my main hobby for some 25 years was sound recording, as engineer that is, not as performer. Many were recordings of Salvation Army bands, choirs and pop groups, with a few being broadcast on the BBC, the first on a Christmas day. This was of the Hemel Hempstead Salvation Army band playing a well known Christmas tune. A link to it can be found on this page http://www.homews.co.uk/page13.html
I know I offered this recording a few Christmases ago to some receiving this but my mailing list has grown appreciably since them.
