Anyone know the history of this drill press?

Interesting motor mounting! Either they couldn't get the motor to run in reverse, or they were in a small shop and trying to save room behind the drill press. Good bit of quality kit you got there, good luck with it!

Hi,
Nice drill press.
I did a quick search and came up with this pdf. Try this web address:

http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/1141/1706.pdf

It looks close. Your picture shows a serial number and not the model number so it may not be exactly what you need.
Might be the Homecraft. Take a look at this publication:
http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/1141/1891.pdf

Vintage Machinery has a lot of publications which you can download and print.
Their home page is:
http://vintagemachinery.org/home.aspx
Free to join but, I forget if you have to wait for approval by email. I have joined a lot of sites (powder coating, welding, machning) and some are like that.
Good luck with it.

Looks like a keeper. I thought I'd fix your pic also. And, I like the Deere!

Where is the table? Likely gone to the Island of Lost Drill Press Tables!!:)

What's up with that? You would think that somewhere, there'd be a surplus of drill press tables, but it seems that they're like socks in the drier, they disappear to never be seen again...

There is a great beast in the depths of Hades that eats DP tables. It prefers the good cast iron ones, and spits out the 'cheap' aluminum ones. :panic:
