Neat B&S micrometer with handle

Just ran across it on the big auction site. I just thought the handle idea was kind of neat, although I'm not sure how useful or cumbersome it may make the unit.

Maybe it's a solution in search of a problem type of thing?

Or perhaps it was a post-production modification someone made?

It is made for measuring hot metal, such as on rolling lines.

I think I have that exact mic downstairs ! Edit . Mine is a Lufkin 121H and is identical .

They do kind of look the same . I most likely have the handle downstairs if I didn't burn it . Maybe the H stands for hot ?
