I need to replace the motor on the Myford Super 7 Lathe. I an looking for a recommendation. I can go with 115 to 230 volts. I am not interested in DC or three phase at this time. Just a basic AC single phase 3/4 HP 1750 RPM with a 5/8 inch shaft. It has to have a welded mounting plate or be able to bolt to the flat mounting plate that is on the myford Lathe. Current motos has 56c frame.pic2.jpg

I'd think that most any 56 C frame motor would fit, it is a very common type, look in the Grainger catalog.

56C if a face mount (although some have both face and base mounts like the one below). A 56 frame should have a 5/8" shaft and should be available in sizes from 1/3 to 1hp.

Look for a TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) rated for continuous duty: Here is a 3/4hp one:

Or this one:

The base mounting may not match, you may need to do some drilling or make an adapter plate. (I have no idea what Myford used.)

Here is a link to NEMA motor frame dimensions:

Thanks all. I think I have found what I need. It would be cool to have the Lotus Twincam running it. But is not to be. Maybe the drill press in the garage.
