I just opened the package of my brand new Aloris AXA #19 knurling tool- looks nice! Since I haven't formed a knurl since high school(I'm grey haired now), has anyone got any advice for using this tool? I want to make some knurled hand nuts for machine covers out of some 12L14 steel.

Thanks Dave, I've already downloaded, read and saved that info and was looking for advice with that particular tool.
Anyone?

It's nice but.....
It puts a lot of stress on the crossfeed screw and nut, especially on smaller lathes when you use it.
If supported by the tailstock center that takes a battering too.
I have a scissor type knurling tool..
Much better for the machine..

I use a scisor type knurling tool on mine, take the stress off the cross slide and give a decent knurl..
