Although i don't plan on changing anything on this gun, my first 1911 i just wanted to show her off. I like the pre 1924 Colt look and that's why i chose this R1. Ran 2 boxed of Federal 230 gr aluminum cased ammo thru it and i was happy. I think this gun was made in the new Huntsville Al plant as my buddies 2 year old R1 has different markings on it. The one thing i did see over the last 2 years is the availability of .45 acp ammo. Never was a day i didn't see it on the shelf of my local wally mart. No 9 mm until now. So i said then i am buying a 1911. Thanks...Bob

beautiful piece, Bob!
i'd be proud to pack it, just as you are!!!

My grandfather had both an Ithica and a Remington from WWII vintage.
i'd love to retrieve either one from my cousins....

I bought the Rock Island and a compact double stack Para Ordnance P-12.
i love them both

Here's a picture of some of my work:

never mind the German Sheppard, Beware of Owner!

This says it all.

Mine is an old Colt frame (1943 vintage) and an Ithaca slide. Obviously an armoury gun but it still does the job.

Springfield that's been worked on... Match Grade guts and a trigger job...

It's a tack driver.

Very unfortunate choice on your part because you are probably "hooked". Once you have owned and fired a 1911 45 cal. nothing else feels quite right! That however is my own opinion and certainly may vary from person to person.

Yes... They are addictive... You can't have only one.

Been eyeing a R1 Enhanced for a bit, will probably try and copy it from an 80% kit when I hit 21 and do the paperwork....

But that's 6 years off, plans will change.
