i have a few standard shank holders, a 3/4" boring holder, a cut off holder and a couple knurling holders.

I'm looking at adding one or two.

Looking for suggestions. I'm thinking about insert cutter holders but am a newbie and all those carbide cutter dimensions confuse me.

...... As many as you can economically lay your hands on.
You can also go with indexable tool holders in lieu of the design specific holders.
IMO you can never have too many 'straight' style holders. They'll always handle
whatever might come up.
Post pics of what you have, if you get a chance.

A MT 02 holder. Have mine with a center drill. Use it a lot.

The holders commonly called type 2, like the standard holders for holding square tool bits, but with the addition of a V groove in the bottom flat. Those holders can still hold square bits without problems but also allow securely holding round tools like boring bars as well. Sometimes the clones with that feature cost a dollar or two more, but are worth it for the versatility they offer.

I placed an order at aloris. Got a insert turn and face combo. I had a choice between positive and negative rake. Went positive.

When do you use negative rake?

The Aloris #71 parting tool, compared to other blade/insert parting tools this thing is a monster, much taller and more rigid.

I Have a CA-71 with a dozen blades for sale. If interested, let me know by sending a PM.
