So it seems that 3 in 1 or even 6 in 1 machines are not so much a new idea after all.
Seen this advertised recently, as a "vintage multi machine" incorporating a lathe/bandsaw/reciprocating saw/drill press/edge planer/spidle grinder.
Powered by a stationary engine, flat belt drive to a common drive shaft with dog clutches to engage the various bits as needed.

Footprint is 5 x 3 x 2 metres
