I've been watching a series of youtube videos done in the 1980s by MIT's robotics lab as an introduction for students.
About 8 hours of videos providing an introduction to metal working / machining. Very basic stuff, but for someone like myself with little formal machining education I'm finding them very helpful because they assume the watcher has no former experience (so right on target).
