Mini Follower Rest on QCTP?

A month or so ago I saw an article or a thread or a blog or ???? online about a guy that made a miniature follower rest that bolted into a threaded hole on his AXA tool holder (the holder itself - the part that holds the bit, not the post or the cross-slide etc.) He was using it when cutting mini threads like size 4 or 6 I think. My el-cheapo tool holders don't have that threaded hole but I thought that was something I could do fairly easily. Now I can't find the article/thread/blog/???.

Does it ring a bell with anyone, and if so could I get the link please?

thanks
Joe

Was it something like this
This was a pic found some where on the net, if the owner steps up, I will credit the pic to his name. I have plans for this tool somewhere in my computer. I will try to locate it for you Joe, but cant promise anything.

No, I don't think so. The tool holder was your regular tool holder like this but it came with a threaded hole on the side, below the groove that holds the bit. Someone had made a tiny follower rest that attached to that hole.
No modification of the tool holder was needed, it held the bit where it normally would and it held the follower rest via that tapped hole and the rest itself looked just like a regular follower rest that someone had hit with a shrink-ray.

EDIT: Found it! http://www.frets.com/HomeShopTech/Tooling/MiniFollower/minifollower.html
The hole was on top, not on the side as I was remembering it but this is the rest I was talking about. I'm going to order a couple more cheapo holders and see if I can drill/tap that hole. If I an do that, then I should be able to build this rest.

PS: Thanks for looking for it.

I saw one on Frank Ford's site one time that sounds like what you're talking about. Mr. Ford is very talented & has a lot of neat ideas& tooling. He also happens to be a member of the Hobby Machinist. Maybe he'll see this & post back, if not you can go to the members list & send him a personal message. You can also google Frets.com & find it. I'm pretty sure this is where I saw it. Hope this helps.

Edit : Just like always I'm a day late & a dollar short. I'm glad you found I.

We were typing at the same time - yep, that's his design from his site (which is worthy of a visit - lots of neat things to see.)

Interesting tool for sure Joe. I think both tools do the same thing, but Franks is built to the tool holder, and the other is just a add on , and fits in place of the cutting tool. I like franks design better. Frank builds a lot of really cool tools.
