Resolved, thread is funny though - Mill clamping kit holder?

The "Shop cases" were all the rage when they first came out.

Then after having several sets of tools in these bulky cases you begin to realize they waste both space and money.
I have 3 different size clamping kit sets in the traditional plastic/metal stands. I find them annoying, open to air and rust and wish they were in clamshell cases I could stow much easier. Just my two cents worth.

do you really want to lift that weight each time to get at a clamp?

I disagree about the plastic racks being fragile. I had this one for about 10 years and it held up very well, just got a bit dirty.

And I have two that are about ten years old and look new. They're both hanging on the shop wall and have held up fine. They're even clean.

The thing with the plastic holders is whether a single person is using it or if it is in a shop environment with several bipedal apes using it.

In a shop they tend to be short lived.

I have plastic bags full of plastic bags, can't seem to let go of a good-looking cardboard box, my dustpan even attracts dust!
I keep a series of dust pans laying around the shop that way they catch all of the detritus and I don’t have to sweep, just pick up the pans and dump them.

THIS type of wooden block base is very easy to make and use as an alternative. Some of the modern plastic racks (like you pictured) are a bit fragile. Vintage metal organizers hold up well.
Thats a nice way of doing it , I like the rods for sorting the Tee nuts and such.

I have all my clamping bits in tubs and the studs in a block of wood with holes drilled in.

I found the metal one filled up with swarf/dust and occasionally something would fall inside it and take ages to get out. (worst if a short stud into the long stud holes :bawling: )
