Material Placement In Vise?

I've been looking for info on material to be cut placement in the bandsaw vise. The other day I was tired and set up a piece of L bracket wrong in my bandsaw. This got me to thinking of looking for a chart or something on this topic. Proper flat, round, L-shape, etc... placement in the bandsaw vise. Surprisingly the metal working books I have don't show any info on this. Anyone got anything or a link to the info? Thanks.
