Hi all,

Continuing my quest of machining it came to be that gear making was in order. I owned nothing in regards to indexing. So, I made a crude indexing/dividing head from scrap that is very accurate for my needs.

The video is up, take a look.

I love using whatever materials I have available, especially scraps and offcuts. Works well for your needs.

Hi all,

This is a follow up for any beginner that might need help with selecting gears. It's got a little bit of math, but if I can do it anybody can do it.
If you're in the market to buy a set of gear cutters this might be helpful.

Nice walk-through of the process. Thanks!

ThunderDog - nice job on your video's. Thank you for your tutorials.

Interesting & inventive ThunderDog!

Thanks everyone. It's crazy to think that I am finding math so fun these days. I despised it in high school, but machining has shown me the real value of understanding it.

I wonder if you realize how much of an inspiration you ( and the videos) are for other folks?
You and I are on similar paths and with similar skill levels and attitudes.

So thanks to you for inspiring me!

34_40, those are some kind remarks. Thank you.
Just try, try, try. At least that's how I approach all of this stuff. Sometimes things don't work or something gets really frustrating, but that's when I learn the most.
